Synamatix™ was founded in 2001 by Robert Hercus. The Company was initially established to research and develop new approaches towards managing and analysing large genomics data sets. Since commercialisation in mid-2004, it has grown and enhanced its products and technologies, making Synamatix one of the leading players in the bioinformatics scene globally. Synamatix was one of the first bioinformatics companies in Malaysia to secure MSC status in 2003. The Company's primary focus is on the research and development of customised bioinformatics software and pipelines. These software and pipelines have been used extensively by world-renowned establishments throughout the world for a variety of genomics projects. The novel approaches developed by Synamatix are based on a proprietary neuronal network system, which efficiently finds unique sequence patterns and stores them in a dynamic pattern-network architecture called SynaBASE™. Applications running on this pattern-finding database engine display significant improvements in sensitivity, specificity and overall performance.
